BizCapital invests across many types of businesses. Preferred industries include manufacturing, retail, health services, and energy. Some of the types of companies in which we have invested include hotels, restaurants, distribution businesses and startup companies, among others. We typically do not invest in highly speculative businesses or professional services firms.

To qualify for consideration for investment from our Small Business Finance Fund, a company must meet the following conditions:

* Fits the Small Business Administration (SBA) definition of a small business; and
* Is located within a qualified census tract (click here for a mapping website); and
* At least 50 percent of the services performed by the company’s employees are performed in qualified census tracts; and
* At least 50 percent of the company’s tangible property is utilized or located in qualified census tracts.

In addition, the company must have no plans to change the operations or characteristics of the business such that it would fail to meet any of the qualifying criteria.

BizCapital is especially interested in assisting businesses located in Louisiana and Mississippi within the Gulf Opportunity (GO) Zone.
